Customs documents for shipments from the UK to Poland
Since Brexit every shipment leaving the UK for Poland needs a customs declaration. We prepare the paperwork for you from the contents list you provide, so nothing is held at the border — here is what each document does.
Which document applies to your shipment
The form depends on the value and type of the goods, not on the size of the box.
- CN22 — parcels with a declared value up to about £270, gifts and personal effects
- CN23 — higher value shipments and anything commercial; includes a full itemised list
- CMR — the international consignment note used for van loads and removals
- Transfer-of-residence inventory — required when moving your household to Poland
What has to be declared
Every declaration needs an honest description, quantity, weight and value per item type.
Descriptions that pass without questions
Write 'used men's clothing, 12 items' rather than 'clothes'. Vague descriptions are the most common reason a parcel is opened at the border.
Values
Declare a realistic second-hand value for used goods. Under-declaring risks a penalty and invalidates transport insurance.
What we cannot carry
Cash, documents of value, alcohol, tobacco, medicines, weapons, live plants, perishable food and lithium batteries shipped loose cannot travel with us, regardless of paperwork.
What Nova Parcel prepares for you
We complete the CN22 or CN23, issue the CMR for van loads and put together the removal inventory. The cost is inside the transport price — you only supply the contents list and confirm the addresses.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a customs form for a parcel to Poland?
- Yes, every parcel leaving the UK needs a CN22 or CN23 declaration. We complete it for you from the contents list you provide at booking.
- What is the difference between CN22 and CN23?
- CN22 is a short declaration for lower-value parcels, typically up to around £270. CN23 is the longer itemised form used for higher-value or commercial shipments.
- Will my parcel be charged duty in Poland?
- Gifts and used personal effects within EU allowances are usually duty-free. New goods above the threshold may attract VAT or duty, which is payable by the recipient.
- What paperwork do I need when moving house to Poland?
- A transfer-of-residence inventory listing your household goods, plus the CMR consignment note. We prepare both as part of the removal.
- Can I send alcohol or medicines?
- No. Alcohol, tobacco, medicines, cash and perishable food cannot be carried, even if declared on the customs form.
