Moving from Scotland to Poland: the complete checklist

Everything you need to organise before the van arrives, in the order it needs doing. Half a van from Scotland to Poland costs £1,000 and a full van £1,800, including loading, insurance and door-to-door delivery.

Six weeks before the move

This is when the decisions that affect the price are made — volume, access and dates.

  • Book a survey (photos or video call) so we can size the van correctly
  • Decide what travels, what is sold and what is disposed of
  • Give notice to your landlord or start the property sale paperwork
  • Register the children's school place in Poland

Two weeks before the move

Paperwork and packing overlap here. Label boxes by room in Polish and English so unloading is quick.

Documents

Collect P45 or P60, NHS records, school certificates, vehicle V5C and insurance no-claims proof — carry them with you, not in the van.

Utilities and post

Set the final meter readings, cancel council tax and set up Royal Mail redirection for at least three months.

The week of the move

Pack an essentials box with tools, chargers, bedding, kettle and medication so the first night in Poland is comfortable. Empty the fridge and freezer at least 24 hours before loading, and drain washing machines.

Removal costs and what is included
